Our position

We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), including child sexual abuse material (CSAM), grooming, sextortion, trafficking, and any other sexualisation of minors. It is prohibited by our terms, and we act on every credible report we receive.

Locus is for adults only

Locus is rated and distributed as an 18+ app. Every new user must confirm they are 18 or older during setup before any part of the app becomes usable. Accounts we identify or that are reported as belonging to someone under 18 are removed.

How the app itself limits risk

• No media of any kind. Locus does not support sending images, video, audio, or file attachments. Conversations are plain text. There is no mechanism within the app to transmit CSAM.
• Mutual consent before contact. Two people can only exchange messages after both have independently chosen to connect. Nobody can message a stranger unprompted, which removes the cold-approach path used for grooming.
• Proximity, not reach. People are discovered over short-range Bluetooth between devices that are physically near each other. There is no global search, no browsing of distant users, and no way to seek out a particular person.
• No public profiles. Profiles are not indexed or viewable on the open internet.

Reporting, and what we do about it

Every profile and conversation in Locus can be reported from inside the app. The reporting options include "under 18" alongside harassment and inappropriate behaviour. Reporting a person also blocks them immediately, ending all contact.

Reports reach us with the reason and the identifiers involved. We review them and, where a report is credible, we permanently remove the offending account's access. Safety reports are retained for up to 12 months so that repeat behaviour can be recognised.

Child safety concerns can also be raised directly at hello@goapps.store, and are prioritised above other correspondence.

Encryption, and being straight about what it means

One-to-one conversations in Locus are end-to-end encrypted, and messages held briefly for delivery are stored as ciphertext only. We are therefore not able to read message content or scan it proactively, and we will not claim otherwise.

Because of that, we rely on the controls above: an adults-only product, no ability to send media at all, contact only by mutual consent, in-app reporting on every profile and conversation, and account-level enforcement when a report is upheld.

Cooperation with authorities

We comply with applicable child safety laws in the jurisdictions where Locus is available. Where we become aware of apparent child sexual abuse material or conduct, we report it to the appropriate regional and national authorities — including, where applicable, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) — and we preserve and provide the related account information required by valid legal process.
