In short

Option 1 — Delete everything from inside the app

This is the fastest route and removes both what is on your phone and what is stored in the cloud.

  1. Open Locus.
  2. Go to the You tab (bottom right).
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Tap Export or delete my data.
  5. Tap Delete everything and confirm.

The app returns to the first-run screen. This cannot be undone.

Option 2 — Ask us to delete your account

If you also want the sign-in account itself removed (the Google account or phone number you logged in with), or you no longer have the app installed:

What is deleted, and what is kept

DataWhat happens
Your profile (name, age, bio, interests, glyph)Deleted from your phone and from our servers, immediately
Your connections and swipe historyDeleted from your phone, immediately
Your chatsDeleted from your phone, immediately. They are end-to-end encrypted, so we never held readable copies
Undelivered messages waiting in the relayEncrypted-only; deleted the moment they are delivered, and removed with your account on request
Your chat encryption key and notification tokenDeleted with your profile
Your sign-in account (Google / phone)Deleted within 30 days of an email request (Option 2)
Safety reports made about you by other usersKept for up to 12 months so we can act on abuse, then deleted. These contain the report reason and the identifiers involved, not your chats
Anonymised, aggregated statisticsMay be kept indefinitely; these cannot identify you

Copies may persist briefly in encrypted backups after deletion and are overwritten in the normal backup cycle.

A note about other people's phones

Locus works device to device. If you chatted with someone, their copy of your messages is on their phone, and deleting your account does not remove it — just as deleting a text message does not remove it from the person you sent it to.
