Before you install

Is this a dating app?

No. It's for meeting the people already around you, whatever you're there for. Your card says which.

Does it drain the battery?

No. It sits quiet when the room is quiet. A long night is fine.

What happens when I leave?

People drop off your radar as they go out of range. Chats you've already started keep working.

Can someone track me with this?

Your card is visible to people near you while Locus is on. That's the point, and it's the only thing that is. No location, no history, and you can go dark instantly.

Nothing to install on your side, no integration, no fee, no data for you to hold. Locus runs between your guests' phones. Your only job is telling them it's there.

Locus needs two people in the room, not two million users. The door sheet exists because that is the cheapest way from zero to two.

By installing or using Locus you agree to these terms. If you don't, uninstall the app; there is no account for us to close.

18+

Locus is for adults. You must be 18 or older.

YOUR CARD, YOUR WORDS

Everything you put on your card is yours and public. You are responsible for it.

MEETING PEOPLE IS ON YOU

We don't verify anyone. Use the judgment you'd use in any room.

What Locus is

Locus is an app for finding and talking to people who are near you. There are no accounts. We provide the app; the people are whoever is in the room.

Eligibility

You must be 18 or older and legally able to enter this agreement. You are responsible for using Locus in line with the laws that apply to you.

What you broadcast

Your card is public. Anyone near you can read it. You own what you write and you are responsible for it, so do not put anything on it you would not say out loud in the room.

Do not impersonate another person, business, or venue.

Do not harass, threaten, stalk, or sexually solicit anyone, and do not send sexual content to people who have not asked for it.

Do not broadcast content that is illegal where you are, involves minors, incites violence, or advertises for sale what may not be sold.

Do not use Locus to spam the Room or broadcast automatically.

Blocking, reporting, and enforcement

You can block anyone instantly, and it works with no internet at all. You can also report a card to us, which reaches us once you are online.

What we can do is limited, and you should know how limited: we can stop serving a card. We cannot delete anything from your phone or anyone else's, because we never hold it. Blocking is the tool that always works.

Meeting people

Locus does not verify identity, age, or intent, and does not screen anyone. Whether you meet someone, and what happens if you do, is entirely your decision and your risk. Meet in public, tell someone where you are, and leave when you want to leave.

The software, as it is

Locus is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. Messages may be delayed, duplicated, or never arrive, and range depends on phones, walls and how crowded the room is. Do not rely on Locus for anything urgent.

To the maximum extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect loss arising from your use of Locus, including messages that do not arrive and interactions with other people.

Licence

The Locus app is free to use. Where these terms and the app’s open-source licence disagree about your rights to the software, that licence wins. The Locus name and artwork are ours.

Changes and ending this

We may update these terms as the app changes and will note the date above. Continuing to use Locus after a change means you accept it.

You end this agreement by uninstalling the app, which also deletes everything Locus kept on your phone. We may stop serving a card that breaks these terms.
